I am a Mishawaka girl, born and raised, and not wanting to be too far from home, I chose Indiana University South Bend for college. I met my husband there; we got married (33 years), and after three kids, moved to South Bend. I took an extended (10+ years) break from college to be a stay at home mom, and when they were all in school full time, I worked on finishing my degree--finally! I began my teaching career in area public schools, and when I was not allowed to pray with my students on 9/11/2001, I needed to follow my heart to a place where worship, compassion, and prayer were not only allowed, but encouraged, daily. That led to the perfect choice for me--straight into Catholic education! I spent an awesome 15 years in 1st grade at Saint Thomas the Apostle, before spending the next five years in Middle School at Mishawaka Catholic. I came to Saint Adalbert last year, and I love teaching 3rd grade here. With our kids now grown up and on their own--two in town, one in Indianapolis, my husband Pat and I really like to travel. We're huge baseball fans, so we have fun traveling to different major league ballparks in the summer. Our very favorite is Yankee Stadium in New York City. We adore our two grandsons--twin boys, Tyler and Cameron (9 years old) and our two granddaughters--Sawyer (5 years old) and Mia (4 years old). They provide lots of entertainment and are the greatest joy of our life! I am beyond proud to serve this wonderful Saint Adalbert community, and I look forward to being a part of all the amazing things we will do and become as a school and parish!

¡Hola! I am Yadira Gonzalez and am currently in my 4th year as the Pre-K-5th grade religion teacher. I graduated from Saint Mary’s College in 2019 with a Bachelor of Science in Molecular Cellular Biology. You might be wondering what a biologist is doing teaching elementary religion. God’s ways are not always the most apparent, but I can say that He has been guiding me through my entire life and my Catholic education has led me to a deeper love for God himself. This love for Him has led me back to my grade school: Saint Adalbert! Being a student here was such a blessing, and I am now sharing that same blessing with my students.
